Financial modelling

Challenge
Every business decision has financial implications, and decision makers need to know
what they are. When a major manufacturing and distribution organisation was going
through a period of merger and acquisition activity, senior management needed to see
the impact of various ownership and consolidation configurations.

Resolution
By drawing on the extensive financial information available for each of the companies
involved, we were able to build a financial model which demonstrated the impact of
various ownership scenarios. The model incorporated the ability to modify many of the
assumptions underlying the ownership scenarios and included multi-year reporting.
The resulting desktop tool enabled senior management to assess the effects of various
proposals without outside help - a huge advantage when they were travelling overseas
as part of the merger and acquisition programme.
